It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
