'People are intimidated' - the reasons 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal have become many people's favorites to win the Premier League this season.

Consider their performances against West Ham and Crystal Palace compared to those equivalent matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but lost 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race previously.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to at last realize their title target.

They stand first for unbreached games (6), shots let in (3), opposition efforts (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Excellence

Their threat from set-pieces is highly documented, but competing clubs still struggle to contain the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just wary of them and it is great to see."

Championship Credentials

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they keep winning, their traditional rivals are struggling. This marks the first time at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the outset, having spent around £250m on eight summer signings in search of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the business has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Unbreached games in each of their last three Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without letting in a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with conviction and purpose.
