Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group access locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
